Michaella Montana, is an award winning television host, producer, journalist, model, actress, facilitator, public speaker, and a proud member of Frog Lake First Nation.

Michaella began her career in acting when she was 12 years old. Which then led to a career in modeling at 14, and then a career in television hosting at 18. Michaella’s hosting career started with APTN television series The Other Side which has led her to her current position today. She is the first Indigenous woman to be host of Canada’s number one entertainment show, Etalk. Prior to this, she was a freelance Fashion and Beauty Expert for Toronto’s Cityline, a journalist for CBC Life, and an Associate Producer for CTV Regina.

Michaella won her very first Canadian Screen Award in 2023 for ‘Best Variety or Entertainment’ Special, a segment that she co-produced and hosted called, ‘Impact & Influence: A Truth and Reconciliation Day Special.’

She can also be seen on the television series Rabbit Fall, The Secret History of the Wild West, Unsettled, and the CityTV animation series, Space Stretch.

As a model, Michaella has worked with numerous brands and can be seen in national campaigns for Nordstrom, RW&Co., and BonLook. She has walked in New York Fashion Week, Toronto Fashion Week, and London Fashion Week.

One of Michaella’s largest campaigns for Nordstrom featured her on the largest billboard in Canada, in Dundas Square, Toronto. As the first Indigenous woman to achieve this, she was given a platform to demand more Indigenous representation in mainstream spaces.

Michaella was also the first Indigenous woman to win Miss Teen Saskatchewan in 2014. She went on to compete in Miss Teen Canada and placed in the Top 5.

Although Michaella spends a majority of her time in the fashion, film, and media industry, her true passion lies in uplifting and helping other Indigenous people thrive. During National Addictions Awareness Week, and at other events, she facilitates several workshops on alcohol and drug abuse and their close relationship to suicide. Due to the loss of immediate family members, addictions and bereavement topics are two workshops Michaella can facilitate with an open heart as she has witnessed the effects of both. She is passionate about facilitating workshops for women on domestic violence, reproductive health, and self-esteem. She also speaks to students about the effects of bullying, decision-making, and overcoming negative experiences.
